About

Designer at the meeting point of culture and computing.

I'm a master's candidate in Visual Communication Design at NYUST. My practice spans cultural design research, instructional design, and human–AI interaction — with a particular focus on translating Taiwanese folk traditions into contemporary visual systems.

Biography

Kathryn (Cai-Ting) Su is a designer-researcher whose work explores how traditional cultural systems — symbols, color, ritual — can be rearticulated through contemporary visual language and emerging technologies.

Her current research investigates Taiwanese Wangye worship and its translation into augmented-reality and parametric design systems, alongside an NSTC-funded project on multimodal generative AI interfaces for children.

Beyond research, she serves as a teaching assistant and lecturer across courses in information visualization, interactive interface design, and AI applications, mentoring students from concept to critique.
